I’m Co-Hosting a New Podcast! The Film Library: A Kanopy Podcast

Jeff Rauseo and Kristy Puchko are the new co-hosts of The Film Library: A Kanopy Podcast, with bi-weekly episodes full of film recs, deep dives, and lots of movie talk.

Big news - I'm officially one of the new co-hosts of The Film Library: A Kanopy Podcast! Season 2 just launched, and I’m teaming up with the amazing Kristy Puchko to bring you bi-weekly episodes full of film recs, deep dives, and conversations about all kinds of movies.

If you're not familiar with Kanopy, it's a completely free (and ad-free) streaming platform you can access with a library card or university login. And it’s packed with 30,000+ titles, from indie hits and classic cinema to documentaries, foreign films, and kids' content. Basically, it’s a goldmine, and the goal of the podcast is to help people discover everything Kanopy has to offer.

What You’ll Hear This Season

Every two weeks, Kristy and I are dropping new episodes covering curated collections, overlooked gems, and movies we just love talking about. We’re also digging into different genres, themes, and performers that deserve more attention. Episodes 1 and 2 are already available right now!

• Episode 1 is all about getting to know us through movies! We each picked five of our favorite films to share as an intro to our tastes and how we approach movies. It’s a mix of true crime, horror, political satire, comedies - all the stuff we can’t stop recommending to friends.

• Episode 2 is all about Kanopy’s Acting in April collection, where we highlight actors who’ve never gotten the credit they deserve. Expect everything from emotional indie dramas to wild genre swings and some cult classics in the mix.

You can listen to The Film Library on all major podcast platforms, and it's also up on Kanopy’s YouTube channel as well as on Kanopy. If you're a regular Mashable reader, you might even see it pop up on their homepage. We're also part of the Evergreen Podcasts network now, which is super exciting.

Meet My Co-Host

Kristy Puchko is a film critic, Entertainment Editor at Mashable, and an all-around awesome person to talk movies with! She’s covered dozens of festivals, hosted multiple film podcasts, and interviewed a ton of great filmmakers and actors. She brings a huge amount of experience and sharp insight to the show, and we’ve already had a blast recording together.

Why This Podcast Matters

Kanopy has always been one of the best streaming services for film lovers, especially those of us looking for something outside the usual algorithm recs. Whether you're into international cinema, classic Hollywood, documentaries, or kids’ stuff, there’s probably something amazing on Kanopy you’ve never seen. I'm really excited to help surface some of that for people who might not even know the platform exists.

New episodes drop twice a month, and we’ve got some great themed collections and guests coming up this season. If you're into movies that matter, and discovering films that don’t always get the spotlight, I think you’ll dig it.
