A breakdown of Netflix’s $82.7 billion bid for Warner Brothers, why it threatens competition, and what it could mean for theaters, streaming, and the future of physical media.
Thought the exact same thing. Elections have consequences. I think Jeff is delusional to think anyone in this current fascist, gangster like admin cares about anti-trust or movies. I'm not sure there are enough levers that any Dem can pull to prevent this from happening. I'm sure Ted S. would pay for more of Trump's ballroom in order to grease "the Don" to get this approved.
The Tech Broligarchy is in a symbiotic relationship with the Trump regime. The Tech Bros pump money into the Dear Leader's projects, and Trump allows the tech companies to flout monopoly laws. It's a win/win for the ultra-rich while we plebeians get screwed over. When we are down to two or three content providers, they raise prices to rake in even more profits. When the Democrats retake power, they need to put teeth into oversight of these powerful companies and break them up where needed. This is contingent on having free and fair elections in 2026 and 2028.
Boy, I miss Lina Khan... At least Zohran Mamdani's benefitting from her as part of his mayoral transitional team.

Good thing is I’m in trading - don’t use any streaming services.
